Reflections on Learning Assignment Directions and Scoring

My goal was to create an initiative that is user friendly for first graders.  I have decided to work through google sites.  I have chosen google sites, because I can bookmark this site on my desktop computers in the classroom.  This will make it very easy for students to access our class webpage.  Parents will also have the URL for our site.  I will post homework, lesson videos, podcasts, birthdays, menus, and other important memos on this website weekly.  Students can use this during the day to look through lesson videos and parents can you it at night to remediate learning with their student.  This will also help keep parents informed at all times.

  1. I think Google Sites is a good choice for creating a class web page for 1st graders. There are user-friendly templates that can be easily updated. Wix and Weebly are also sites that a lot of teachers use as well, so if you're considering other platforms you may want to look into those.

Finding ways to engage younger students in e-learning can be a challenge. I think by creating a class web page where you will post weekly content, homework, etc., gets even the youngest learners started with developing 21st century skills. You might consider integrating something that allows them to engage with the content - a discussion, or blog where they can post comments are two that come to mind. It's important in an initiative to make sure that you are engaging the learner, not just delivering content.

I look forward to seeing how your project takes shape. Let me know if you have any questions.
